“Hold On Tight”
Statement
Eight chairs woven with silver thread link together to form a necklace.
The chair—an extension of the body—abandons its function of supporting to become that which must be held. Suspended, joined, and bound, the chairs create a gesture of constant tension: between adornment and burden, between care and dependency.
The silver thread—at once fragile and resilient—traces connections that make no attempt to hide. Each binding is visible, insistent, necessary. The necklace encircles the body like an intimate act capable of both protection and suffocation, reminding us that what we hold close also defines and weighs upon us.
Hold On Tight speaks to the need to cling—to memory, to the body, to others. To holding and being held. To the delicate line between containment and limitation, between the act of caring and the fear of letting go.
